How arrival and dismissal work at Wortham Intermediate for car riders, walkers, and bus riders — plus bus eligibility and enrollment info.
Wortham's carpool lines move fastest — and safest — when every family follows the same system.
How your student gets to and from school each day determines exactly what to expect.
Find your student's situation below — car rider, walker, or bus rider.
HAVE PATIENCE: These procedures exist to keep every student safe while moving hundreds of cars, walkers, and buses through campus twice a day. Each fall, roughly half of Wortham families are brand new to this system — the current 6th graders learned it as 5th graders last year, so this year's incoming 5th grade families are the ones getting used to it for the first time. Thank you for your patience as new families learn the flow, and thank you to returning families for helping set the example.
Quick reference — the two rules that matter most for drivers and walkers:
Never stop at the curb on Kickapoo Drive or Alma, for drop-off or pick-up, at any time.
Keep moving — pull forward before your student exits or meets your car, don't idle in place.

Wortham's carpool drop-off uses one single lane.
Pull all the way forward to the top of the sidewalk before letting your student out — don't stop short.
Students may exit the car anywhere along the drop-off zone, from the top of the line down to where staff are stationed waving traffic through.
Students open and close their own car door — this keeps the line moving, since staff aren't able to do this for each car.
Once your student is out, move into the second lane to exit the carpool area right away — don't wait in the drop-off lane. This is what keeps the whole line moving for the cars behind you.
Dismissal uses two lanes of cars.
Keep both lines moving forward at all times.
When you spot your student, do not stop the line to wait for them — pull all the way forward first, and your student will walk forward to meet your car. Stopping in place backs up traffic for every family behind you.
For both arrival and dismissal: do not drop off or pick up at the curb on Kickapoo Drive or on Alma. These are not designated zones and create safety risks.
Use sidewalks and crosswalks the entire way to school. If your student walks or bikes on their own without you, remind them to do the same every day.
Walkers exit out the front of the school only. Use sidewalks and crosswalks for the entire walk home, even if it means taking a slightly longer route than the most direct path — this is a safety requirement, not a suggestion.
Do not drop off or pick up your child on Alma, even briefly, even if you're parked and walking up to meet them.
Frisco ISD provides bus transportation for students who live 2 miles or more from Wortham, measured by the shortest trafficable route from the school to your home. Riding the bus is optional even if your student qualifies — no family is required to use it.
Registration isn't required if your student is eligible — routing happens automatically based on your address on file with the district. Use My Ride K-12 to view your student's specific bus number, stop location, and pickup/drop-off times. If your student doesn't show an assigned stop and you believe they're eligible, contact FISD Transportation at routing@friscoisd.org or 469-633-6155.
Have your student at their assigned stop at least 5 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. If the bus hasn't arrived within about 15 minutes of the normal time, call the FISD Transportation office at 469-633-6155 — but otherwise, have your student wait at the stop, since a bus will always come even if it's running late.
Students board their assigned afternoon bus at school and are dropped at their assigned stop. Only the route and stop tied to your primary address on file with the district are valid — Frisco ISD does not provide bus service to secondary addresses or alternate locations. Students may NOT switch busses for any reason.
Students may need to walk up to a certain distance to reach their assigned stop, so don't be surprised if the stop isn't directly in front of your home.
If a stop goes unused for several consecutive days, it may be removed — contact Transportation to have it reinstated if needed.
